EDL Construction Corp — Privacy Policy
EDL Construction Corp ("EDL", "we") is a licensed California general contractor (CSLB #778430). Our mailing address is 995 Marsh Rd., STE 102, Redwood City, CA 94063. This policy covers our website (edlconstructions.com), the EDL Field app used by our crew and office (field.edlconstructions.com and the installed mobile app), and the EDL Construction Corp Work Texts program.
Information we collect
From website visitors and clients. What you send us through the contact form (your name, email, phone, how you like to be reached, the kind of project, its city or address, the budget and timeline you pick, your message, and whether you have plans or a designer), and what you share with us by email, phone or in person while we price and build your project, such as your address, plans, selections, photos of the work area, contracts, invoices and payments.
Collected automatically. When you open our website or EDL Field, our hosting provider records basic usage: the page opened, time spent, sign-ins, approximate country, device type and operating system. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking or session recordings. Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser fetches them.
From crew and office members using EDL Field. Your name, mobile number, email address, language and role; your sign-in (a code sent to your phone, an invited email login, or a Google or Apple login); your job assignments and schedule; time-clock entries, meal breaks and time corrections; the location recorded when you clock in or out (see below); the material requests, daily reports, problems and notes you submit; the photos and receipts you upload, which may show a job site, a store, amounts and the items bought; and a log of the work texts sent to you. The office also keeps employment and pay details (worker type, hire date, pay basis, pay rate and pay method).
From subcontractors. Company and contact details, license number and expiration, insurance certificates, W-9 tax forms and other compliance documents. These files are stored privately, not on any public page, and are used only by the office.
Location. EDL Field reads your phone's location only at the moment you tap clock in or clock out, to check that you are at the job. It does not track your location in the background or at any other time. On a job with a site boundary, clocking in needs your location: if you decline or the phone cannot read it, the app does not clock you in and asks you to call the office, which records your time for you. At clock out, if your location cannot be read, the punch is still saved and marked for the office to review. To show the office where a clock out happened, the coordinates are turned into a street address by OpenStreetMap's address lookup service. Office staff may also use their own location once to place a job on the map.
Camera and photos. The app uses your camera or photo library only when you choose to add a photo, a receipt or a document.
How we use it
To answer inquiries, price and perform our construction work; to schedule crews, record hours, run payroll and pay back expenses; to coordinate job sites, materials, permits and inspections; to keep the job, employment and tax records a contractor must keep; to translate task lists into Spanish and to prepare summaries and drafts for the office to review; and to send the work text messages a person has opted in to. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use website inquiries to send marketing text messages.
Who we share it with
Service providers that run our systems for us:
- Base44 — app and website hosting, database, and the usage records described above;
- Twilio — sign-in codes and work text messages;
- Google Workspace — email, calendar and documents;
- Notion — the office's project-records workspace, where job, schedule and cost records are copied;
- Houzz Pro — our client and project management system; a request sent through our website contact form is added there as a new lead through Zapier, an automation service;
- Intuit QuickBooks, our bookkeeper and our bank — accounting, payroll and payments;
- OpenStreetMap — turning job addresses and clock-out locations into map points and street addresses;
- AI providers — models reached through Base44 that read the text on uploaded receipts and documents, translate tasks and draft summaries and notices, and Anthropic's Claude, which the office uses to help read and organize email, documents and job records. People at EDL review this work before it is relied on.
Our providers handle information to provide their services to us, not for their own marketing. Where a provider gives us a setting that keeps our information out of AI model training, we use it.
People working on your job. Job reports, photos, schedules and the names of crew on site may be shared with the client, the designer, inspectors, suppliers and subcontractors on that job as needed to do the work.
When the law requires it, or to protect the safety or legal rights of people or of EDL, including with our insurers, accountants and attorneys.
Text messaging
Consent to receive work texts is collected only through the opt-in (in the app, or a signed written consent) described in our SMS Terms & Conditions. Apart from the one-time sign-in codes you ask for, EDL Field texts a mobile number only if its owner has opted in, and only with those work messages. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell, rent, or buy mobile numbers or consent data.
How long we keep it
- Time, break, pay and expense records: at least as long as California and federal employment and tax law require (generally four years).
- Job records (reports, photos of the work, material requests, documents): for the life of the project and the warranty and legal claim periods that follow.
- Website requests and client records: as long as needed to answer you and for any project that follows; ask us and we will delete a request that did not become a project.
- Subcontractor compliance documents: while we work together and for the tax and insurance periods that follow.
- Sign-in details and contact information in EDL Field: until your account is deleted, as described below.
Your choices and your account
Reply STOP to any work text to stop receiving them; reply HELP for help. To see or correct your information, ask the office; a time entry can also be corrected through the app's time correction request.
Deleting your EDL Field account. In the app, tap your name (crew: at the top of the screen; office: in the menu) and choose Delete my account, or follow the steps at edlconstructions.com/delete-account. Your sign-in stops working right away and your phone number, email, text-message opt-in and job assignments are removed from your profile. The login itself is fully removed within 30 days. Your name stays on the hours and pay records the law requires us to keep, and the photos, reports and receipts you submitted stay in their job records.
California residents may ask us what personal information we hold about them, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, except records the law requires us to keep. Email or call us using the contact details below. We will confirm your identity, answer within 45 days, and will not treat you differently for asking.
Do Not Track. Our website does not track visitors across other websites, so it does not change its behavior when a browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
Security
Access to information is limited by role: pay, contract and compliance information is limited to the office, and crew phones show the tasks assigned to that person. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and EDL Field is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
